Best Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe
Who doesn’t love a classic dish? I usually cook the bolognese sauce slowly for a couple of hours and let it cool down to reheat later on or the day after as it tastes even better!
Ingredients
- 500g good quality mince beef
- 400g spaghetti
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 tins of tomatoes
- 1 tbsp tomato purée
- 1/2 tin of water
- 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp extra virgin oil
- Peppery salt
- Fresh basil, finely chopped
- A few basil leaves for garnishing
- Parmesan for serving
Instructions
In a large saucepan with 1 tbsp of olive oil, sauté the onions for a few minutes, add the mince and cook until golden brown. Add the garlic, the tomato purée, the tin of tomatoes, season well and simmer slowly for 2 hours. I keep the tomato tin and fill it in halfway with water and add to the sauce after 1 hour of cooking. Cook the pasta as per instruction on the pack. Toss the pasta in the sauce. I like to serve mine with plenty of Parmesan and a few basil leaves.
