I absolutely love daig walay khanay. Be it qorma, biryani, zarda or Channa palao.

This recipe instantly reminded me of the degi Channa palao with hints of achaar, which we get back in Pakistan.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 can chickpeas(500 gm)
  • 3 cups basmati rice (washed and soaked in water)
  • 1 medium onion(thinly sliced)
  • 2 tsp gingergarlic paste
  • 3 tbsp achaar
  • 2 tbsp Achar gosht masala
  • 5-6 elaichi
  • 1 n 1/2 tsp salt(adjust accordingly)
  • 2 inch cinnamon stick
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 chicken cube
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 6 Green chillies
  • 5 cups (plus 3/4th cup additional)
  • Water

INSTRUCTIONS

In a pot add oil, saute onion till golden brown, add chickpeas, stir for a minute, then add gg paste, 3 green chillies and cumin, saute for 2 minute till aromatic.

Then add all the mentioned spices along with Achari masala, achaar & chicken cube. Saute for 2 min, then add water and remaining green chillies. Bring it to boil.

Then add rice. Cook for 10-12 mins till they rice are almost soft and cooked and water has dried. Put on damm at lowest flame for 10 minutes. That’s it. Yummiest Achari Chana palao is ready. Enjoyyyy
