- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 15 ounces wonton mein noodles Canadian-style
- 4 cups frozen stir-fry vegetables thawed
Sauce:
- ⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- ¼ cup mirin Japanese sweet wine
- ¼ cup sake Japanese rice wine
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 5 cloves minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes Optional
Instructions
- The chicken pieces are to be seasoned with a sprinkle of salt and pepper, ensuring a perfect balance of flavors.
- The skillet is heated on medium-high heat with sesame oil. The chicken pieces are then added to the skillet and cooked while stirring, until they turn brown, which usually takes about 3 to 5 minutes. After that, the chicken is transferred to a plate and kept warm.
- In the meantime, start heating a pot of water on high until it boils vigorously. Then, add the noodles and vegetables, and cook them for approximately 3 minutes, or until the noodles have softened.
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and a dash of red pepper flakes. Stir the ingredients together until well combined. Then, carefully pour the sauce into the skillet. Cook the mixture while stirring frequently until the sauce thickens, which usually takes about 3 minutes. Finally, reintroduce the chicken into the skillet along with the sauce.
- The noodles and vegetables should be drained and then added to the skillet. After adding them, gently stir to combine everything before serving.
