If I could I seriously would live off these animal style fries. They are crispy golden perfection and are topped with an explosively umami caramelized mushroom and onion combo and the silkiest, cheesiest animal style sauce made with cheddar plantbased sunflower® cream cheese (by far my favorite vegan cheddar flavored anything). The herbs on top add a lovely burst freshness to the whole thing. Happy Tuesday!
Ingredients:
For The Animal Style Sauce
- ½ cup Sunflower® Cream Cheese in “The Cheddar”
- 3 tbsp ketchup
- 1½ tbsp relish
- 1 tsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- ½ tsp garlic powder
For The Fries
- 16oz fries, frozen or homemade, cooked until crispy
- 8oz baby bella mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp vegan butter
- 2 tsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp chipotle powder (optional)
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 2 tbsp cilantro, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Italian parsley, finely chopped

Method:
For The Animal Style Sauce
Combine all ingredients in a blender and pulse till smooth and creamy. Set aside.
For The Fries
Heat the vegan butter in a skillet and once melted add the mushrooms and onion. Cook 2-3 mins.
Add the maple syrup, stir and let the mushrooms and onion caramelize, ~5 mins. Add all the seasoning and cook another min then remove from heat.
Compile: evenly spread out the fries then top with the caramelized onions and mushrooms, add little dollops of the animal style sauce, then sprinkle with the cilantro and parsley and top with more sauce. Enjoy!
